Half The Way Christianity

“The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.” – Proverbs 28:13

It was 4:15pm on Tuesday and I was just finishing up my bus route for the day. As I was driving, there was a 4 way stop ahead of me, but for the first time, something caught my eye. It was the “All Way” sign under the stop sign. To be honest, my first thought was “that is sad and pathetic that they have to put that there.” I mean, are we, as humans and as Christians in our daily lives, that busy to where we don’t have the patience to stop all the way at a four way, three way, two way, or even a one way stop?

What about spiritually? Are we that busy to where we don’t want to stop when God says to stop? Maybe He is protecting you from something ahead. Maybe…just maybe…God knows what He is doing. Have you ever thought about that?

I think we get in a place in our lives to where we THINK we are too busy to do stuff. “Well, I’m too busy to go to church today, because I have too much homework.” Or “Man, I’m exhausted, so I’m not going to go to Sunday School.” That is bogus! We have got to learn to stop when God says to stop!

To Adam and Eve, God said “Do not eat the fruit of THAT tree over there (as God is pointing to the tree He is talking about)”. But to Adam and Eve, the apple (sin) tastes better than God’s promises. Adam and Eve’s disobedience led to a lifetime of trouble, darkness, and loneliness. They thought that God wouldn’t notice. They thought that just one bite would be okay. In today’s terms, we think that one drink is okay, or one cigarette is okay, or one time in anything will be okay, but let me ask you something: when was one time ever enough? Never!

In our lives, God is calling us to stop all the way…not part of the way, not three-fourths of the way….ALL THE WAY! The sin in our lives…STOP ALL THE WAY! God is calling us to holy lives and we should abide by His rules and instructions.

It’s simple: stop. Whatever you are doing right now, do yourself a favor and go lock yourself in a room somewhere with just you and the Lord. Turn some worship music on, grab your Bible, and pray. God wants to meet with you! Be still and know that He is God!
