Living on Sabbath Time: Day 21/31

  • “The wonder of the world is not excited by the phenomena of the penitent bench but by what happens at the ordinary workbench in the subsequent days.”_ Warren W. Wiersbe, Classic Sermons on The Church

Numbers 10:21 “Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the holy things.  (The tabernacle would be prepared for their arrival.)”

The “Kohathites” were a branch of Levites (sort of like a denomination) whose specialty was carrying the holy things that went into the tabernacle when the children of Israel broke camp and moved to another area.

What is important to know is that by the time they arrived to the new location two other groups of Levites had gone before them and set up the tabernacle and made things ready for them.  That is what your work week is like.  If you spend your work week building God’s kingdom then when your Sabbath comes along you will have a place to put your holy day.

In contrast, if you spend all week chasing after the pursuits of this world, talking the language of this world, and honoring the
values of this world then don’t expect much of a Sabbath.  You’d be better off just taking a day off because it is hard to put holy things in a profane place.

Now that puts a new spin on work days!

Blessings while working hard and working righteously,
