Question for you:

I am a 28 year old wife and mother to three small children. My husband and I have served in ministry for years and we adore the church of God.

Tonight I find myself very unsettled in my spirit. John 10:10 says the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. Mark 3:25 tells us that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

It breaks my heart to see so many posts here on this page degrade godly men and women. These men and women are in positions over us and deserve utmost respect, and especially our prayers. Psalms 105:15 gives us very clear instructions to touch not the Lord’s anointed and do His prophets no harm. Do we not take the Lord at His word?

“Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29

What are we trying to accomplish here? Am I mistaken that this is a page to discuss matters in the church of God? Or is this simply a gossip forum?

Proverbs 20:19 says “He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, Therefore do not associate with a gossip.”

Have you gone to the person that has offended you and discussed these matters with them? Have you shared with them your offense at their clothing or actions or what have you?

Something just doesn’t settle in my spirit about this. It seems a very dangerous thing to “touch God’s anointed.” Do we not fear the Lord and take Him at His word? It only seems appropriate that our general overseer and his wife as well as other overseers and pastors and their wives should be off limits for gossiping about. They deserve more respect than that. Surely we cannot believe this is ok by God’s standards.

  1. I agree with you Brittany.

Brittany, have you discussed this with your husband first before coming to me on Face Book? Surely your husband can enlightening you about this issue. While he may not agree with me he can explain the way many feel about their cherished beliefs of holiness in the COG. Perhaps you need to talk with him.

  3. Charles this doesn’t concern him at all. He has always respected and prayed for those in leadership. What exactly are you suggesting I discuss with him? He doesn’t gossip about our leaders. He respects them and the authority God has bestowed upon them. I’ve talked extensively with my husband and he feels the same way. The Bible clearly states these things. Do you believe the Bible is the infallible, perfect inspired word of God?

do you abide by I Cor 14:34,35 KJV?

  5. Yes, actually I do. I am submissive to my husband. I am not occupying a public platform at this moment. I am simply commenting in a forum. It is very clear that you intend to silence anyone who speaks anything contrary to your opinion. I have not stepped out of line. I’m praying for you Charles. It’s obvious there is something that has made you very bitter towards the church. I pray that you allow God to heal the wound in your heart and that you refrain from publicly speaking against those God has placed in leadership.

Are you suggesting or ordering me to refrain

  7. I’m praying you refrain.

  8. Charles Page says:

It’s left between myself and God, right?

  9. Then why does this same concept (it’s left between myself and God) not apply to others you have openly rebuked and criticized? Those who dress differently or wear their hair differently? Should this not be left between them and God as well?

Brittany, you make many good points here and I am in general agreement with you. Especially your right and privilege to speak back to the administrator of this page even though some may consider him one of God’s anointed. It is God’s anointed that I want to bring up. So many times I have known of pastors or AB’s to hide behind Ps.105:15 to prevent honest and needed communication. A careful reading I think shows this chapter is referring to Israel and it’s prophets. In Acts and in I Cor. we see a lot of dialog and serious discussion going on and even the apostles are not exempt from being challenged. However we should be careful when we bring up an issue and do so in a loving spirit and with the greater church in mind. Also we should keep in mind the great dissention that caused so much harm in the 1920’s.
