Setting the Stage part 3

Setting the Stage part 3

The third message in our Setting the Stage series focuses on 5 Keys to Chasing Vision. You can find part 1 HERE and part 2 of this message series HERE.  The Word, prayer, journaling / reflecting, and worship set the stage for Godly vision to fill your life – here are a few things to take note of as you continue to chase that vision!

Key Thoughts from the message:

5 Keys to Chasing Vision
1. Get Up, Get After It.
Psalm 63 – “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You: my soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is…”

Mornings are the gateway to your day!  Set the tone for it physically and spiritually.  How do we set the tone?

Psalm 100, verse 4: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise: Give thanks unto Him, and bless His name.

A great post by Jon Acuff on maximizing your day by being the early bird gives more great insight on this!

2. Guard Your Heart.

Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Why guard you heart?

Jeremiah 17:9 – the heart is deceitful beyond all things and with out cure.  Who can understand it?

How many times have we said to ourselves “why did I do that?” I don’t understand why I did that, what was I thinking? Our hearts can be deceitful and misleading. Don’t follow your heart. Trust the Lord with your heart. Make Him the Lord of your heart. Let Him hold your heart.

Proverbs 3:5-6  5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

3. Fuel Your Vision.

Be involved with activities and people that FEED your vision!  Iron sharpens iron…

4. Flee Vision Killers.

There are people you shouldn’t be with.
There are places you shouldn’t go.
There are situations you shouldn’t get into.
There are choices you need to weigh the consequences before making…

Vison-killers are out there. Be heads up! Like is says in 1 Peter 1:13 – Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober… be heads up & be aware.

5. Get to the Root of Issues that Hold You Back.

Read about Elijah’s showdown on Mt. Carmel.  Notice at the end of the passage, he kills the prophets devoted to Baal.  He gets to the root of the issue.  We can have plenty of mountain top experiences, and still be stuck in a cycle of destructive habits, attitudes, sin, etc… Get to the root of any issues in your life – now!  Your vision and destiny depend on it.
