WHEN WE WILLINGLY SUBMIT TO GOD, LOOK OUT WORLD

Bill Stockham

In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah, Elimelek, together with his wife, Naomi, and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab. Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband! So she said to her two daughters-in-law “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the LORD show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your husbands and to me. Orpah returned but Ruth said:] “…Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and YOUR GOD MY GOD.” (Ruth 1:16) [Ruth wound up working in the field of Boaz (the great grandfather of King David), she worked very hard and impressed Boaz to the point that he her took her to be his wife!] “So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel!” (Ruth 4:13-14) [When we submit to God and willingly give our life to Him, there is no telling of HOW GOD MAY CHOOSE TO USE US!] “(Boaz was the father of Obed), Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse THE FATHER OF DAVID.” (Ruth 4:22) [The Disciples of Christ are the light for the Lord, they walk as children of the light and of the day, and have in them no occasion of stumbling, and are on their way to the awe-inspiring light AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD!] “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, WE HAVE NOT STOPPED PRAYING FOR YOU. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, SO THAT YOU MAY LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE LORD AND PLEASE HIM IN EVERY WAY: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, WHO HAS QUALIFIED you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” (Col. 1:9-12)

Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that THAT WE MAY LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE LORD AND PLEASE HIM IN EVERY WAY!
