Will it be okay if it doesn’t work?

“Never forget the six-foot-tall man who drowned crossing the stream that was five feet deep on average.” Margin for error gives you staying power and gets you through the low spots.” — Howard Marks

Will it be okay if it doesn’t work?

When we want something badly, it is so easy to “sharpen our pencil” and figure out a way to make it work.

But what if it doesn’t work?

Will it still be okay?

Betting the ranch is okay if you can live without the ranch. But if you can’t, best to downsize your expectations.

Margin for the unexpected must always be factored in. What is the worse thing that could happen? If you’re okay with that, then that’s a strong signal to proceed. If not, best to adjust your plans.

The ONE THING for today: Don’t be defined by failure or success. Be defined by who you most love and treasure and make your decisions in light of them.
