The legacy of the Soddy Daisy’s speech at 2010 COG GA will not die and go away. COG Ordained Bishop Robert Randolph lives on and is the donkey that the women ordained bishop movement is seeking to pin his tail.

What are your thoughts on this. There is a strong feminine movement (not saying feminist movement) brewing at a local church in Cleveland, with several sympathetic churches.

“The second theological “slippery slope” that I hear some of my brother Bishops asserting in support of banning women from the General Council is that a female is inferior in created essence to a male. Most infamously, this view was propounded by a speaker during a General Council session at the General Assembly of 2010. So crass was that speech that we are wont to write off the theological underpinning of it as isolated to a single Ordained Bishop’s opinion” -exerted from Daniela Augustine’s speech posted on her husband’s FB page

Two scriptures do not support this. One is that women shall not teach men, or have authority over men. The other is that women cannot be the husband of one wife.
And do not back away from declaring this an act of “feminism”, bro Charles. 🙂

The title bishop in the COlG denomnation doesn’t correspond in meaning with the meaning of the word in the Bible. In the denomination it’s an honorific title for long time preachers. In the Bible it has to do with overseeing the church. The issue is about women ‘pastors’ as modern Pentecostals understand that term.

  3. Lahry Sibley says:

In my humble opinion, from what I can gather, your defintion does not align with Biblical truth. Pastors are elders, as are bishops and they excercise authority over the souls in their care. So I don’t really follow your inunindo.

Daniela Augustine is mistaken about Women being banned from being bishops.
It has been the General Assembly ruling per the established governing structure. It is the executives who set the agenda and the general council, which consist of male bishops, which approve the motions that are sent to the GA for voting. The General Assembly can vote down any motion sent to them from the general council.

It is unfair of her to accuse the church of banning women and her wording perhaps solidifies any resistance toward ordaining women to be bishops.

  5. Levi Chavis says:

Women are to be submissive to their husbands because it was the woman that was deceived in the beginning, not the man. It doesn’t say that women aren’t allowed to worship in church, but it does say that they aren’t to be over men. That fact in itself is reason enough why there shouldn’t be women bishop, pastors, deacons, elders, music leaders, or any other position that puts them over men. Period.

  6. It is truly a blessing to see male leaders in church worship and lead by Godly example, I think nothing more spiritually stronger, but sadly the churches are filled with women not because they are ladies, but Father or husband walks away from it all! We need to lead by the example,Jesus gave in the Bible. Love one another. Praying all is well!

Act 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

    Overseers – episkopos – bishop, overseer. G1985

1Pe 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
    1Pe 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
1Pe 5:3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

Elders – presbuteros – elder, older.

Also note, that these elders had no judicial oversight. But rather, they kept watch over the flock to keep heresies from entering in.

This “judicial oversight” was an invention of Constatine.

So there must be a “missing link” somewhere.
