How to respond to people (especially Christians) who are against…

How to respond to people (especially Christians) who are against interracial marriage? All I’ve got are

• The punishment of Aaron and Miriam when they criticized Moses for marrying a Kushite woman. (Num 12:1-15)

• To not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever. (2 Corin 6:14)

• We, as descendents of Adam and Eve, are to be fruitful and multiply. (Gen 1:28)

This is kind of close to heart because I’m reaching that age of marriage ??? but I come from a very cultural and traditional background.

    Are you implying that it is wrong or that it is right?

    Really it only has to do with if you believe that the Lord our God is one and he died for our sins

    Other than that
    It doesn’t matter if you marry someone who’s
    Blue, green, black, white, yellow, pink

    It’s all good
    As long as you love the Lord your God with al your heart .

    I really believe the most important aspect of marriage is that Jesus Christ is the cornerstone and foundation of the marriage and that both partners are believers. Skin color doesn’t matter, race doesn’t matter. All that matters is Jesus

    We were all created in God’s image. The unequal yoke principle doesn’t mean “don’t marry someone that isn’t your race” it means “don’t marry an unbeliever.” Ruth was a Moabite, who married an Israelite. She then also became an ancestor of Christ. Also all people are descended from 1 couple so there is only one race, the human race.

    How can marrying someone of a different race who is a Christian be unequally yoked?
    Plus Aaron & Miriam may have said something to Moses about his marriage but God didnt. Personally I don’t know how any Christian can be against interracial marriage.

    There is only one race in the Bible, the human race. Advice against mixing skin tones in a marriage are not because of any biblical ban, but because of potential prejudice and mistreatment from others. The only ban on mixed marriages was mixed religions between people of the same ethnicity.

    In a practical sense, marriage between two cultures is a strain.
    And if you add that person is not a believer, it is very difficult.
    My unbelieving wife abandoned the family after nearly 30 yrs of marriage, and she was from a different culture, wherein her father obligated her to marry me, and I never knew it until halfway through the marriage, as it turned out.

    The creation account is more important than the culture account because the god created mankind in his own image. So all are to obey his word not the world.
    The verses you quoted are to be understood in contextual way than to be conceptual way . Pray God for what is made for you.

    Acts 17 says that we are all made of one blood. Many Nations, but only ONE race. According to scripture, Moses and Solomon both married black women. Skin tone doesn’t matter. What DOES matter, is faith and character.

    Ask them to define the boundary and why, based on biblical principles. How someone looks is subjective. What if two people both look the same shade, but one is mostly German descent and the other mainly Irish or Welsh. Why would that too not be a “sin?” And who is the authority to determine how mixed is too far—the parents?! Why? Will they trace genealogy for all their children or just the ones with a certain look?

    This is very sinful to think two people can’t get married due to their colour of skin. The bible teaches on not to marry an unbeliever if your a believer to protect you. This has nothing to do with colour of skin. There’s one race and we need to reject any racism, I think racism is evil and sinful thinking. If God has called you to marry someon of darker skin than you , I don’t see ANY issue with this , EVER

    I am shocked any born again Christian would think this. We humans are ALL created in His likeness. Besides race has nothing to do with being equally yoked! You are precious in Gods eyes!! Only marry a man who honors God and sees your God given value! Praying you ll be blessed with Gods best sister ?

    The Bible nowhere prohibits interracial marriages but rather only prohibits interfaith marriage and also same sex marriage

    Nothing wrong with interracial marriage.
    Maybe you need to think of the immediate families, how they would react.

    I think it might be hard for the child because the black people consider the child white and the white consider the child as black.
    Or any other mix you could use for example.

    I am not racist but I have seen this happen to people.
    I have a biracial grandson.

    The Bible tells us, and genetics confirms that we’re all descendants of Adam and Eve. No matter the “color” of our skin, we’re one race.
    Since we’re descendants of Adam and Eve, that proves they carried the different genes for varying shades of melanin.

    I’m willing to bet that Adam and Eve both differed in shades of brown (there is no black or white), that they’d be considered an “interracial couple” by today’s ignorant culture. Unfortunately, illustrations of Adam Eve almost always show them as being the same shade of brown, which has deceived many (deception comes from the devil) and divided us (division from the devil) by “color of skin”.

    There is no color. Only shades of brown.

    Paul tells us we are all one in Christ. We can infer this includes everything to include race. “There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male and female; since you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

    There is nothing in the Bible that prohibits a marriage based on race. In fact look at Ruth. Her and Boaz were not the same race.

    Only thing that matters is both husband and wife believe in Jesus as Lord and savior, and of course it is a husband and wife.

    A Christian who opposes interracial marriage is not following the Spirit, but the flesh… and is listening to the voices of strangers who have neither heard God’s voice nor have they known Him. Truth!!!

    Edit: to not be unequally yoked is wise though… not a deal breaker, but wise.

    I don’t think I’ve met a Christian who opposes interracial marriage, at least not in the last 35 years or so. I would just tell them “you’re wrong” and maybe ask them where in the Bible it says against interracial marriage (if it says any such thing, I am unaware of it but then again I’m not an expert).

    Did not Boaz marry a Moabite? Did not Boaz and Ruth give birth to Jesse, who became the father of King David? David was an Israelite with Moabite in his blood. The race isn’t forbidden; it’s whether or not they believe in the one true God.

    The Bible is silent on the issue of interracial marriage. As a matter of fact, can we talk? There’s no such thing as interracial marriage. Because there us only one race, the human race! In Acts 17, Paul says out of one blood God made every nation of men. We are all descendents of Adam. So as long as you marry a human, and they are THE OPPOSITE SEX, there is no problem. Yes you will face cultural prejudice and that is a sad fact of this fallen world. The only mixed marriage prohibited by Scripture is between a believer in Christ and an unbeliever.

    Simple. There is only one race and that’s the human race. Any differences we have are slight and does not deter from the fact that all of us are descendants of Noah and his family. We only began to have sight differences because of what happened at the Tower of Babel

    Race matters as much as how many nose hairs a person has. Or what their shoe size is.
    “Omg can you believe she married a person with 13 nose hairs? !”

    Race is a social construct. Also when someone marries outside of their race does it truly make God uncomfortable or does it make you uncomfortable? Greeks and Jews were like different races in the social constructs of Paul’s day. Yet he said there were no longer Greeks or Jews in Christ Jesus. By the way, as someone who has three beautiful children through a Mexican woman and am currently married to my half- Chipewa wife I would love to know why Bob Jones University has not fully repented of their horrible long term policy against interracial dating.

    It seems like it is more prominent in the south, and possibly among pentacostals. We met these oneness pentacostal girls from Arkansas who were against interracial marriage. They were pretty racist as well. We were shocked.

    The Lord knows no man after the flesh. Its enough if they are believers. Christ reconciled the whole of the human race(Jews and Gentile) (Eph 2). Here in South Africa we are too diverse, pretty much every race is here. As a result we call ourselves a rainbow nation.

    Our descendente come from the sons of Noah. We are all brother and sisters. Race is a physical definition of what we see to help explain someone. It should be no more used than explaining if someone is tall or short, man or women. Ethnicity is cultural and determined by geographical location. Nationality is where your family holds citizenship. When God talks about marriage He speaks of the spiritual part of it. Do not marry an unbeliever, be equally yoked and I do believe if the wife-to-be’s father is saved and has your best interest then get his blessing. If that is not an option then seek the blessing of the pastor. It is important to go into a marriage with your eyes open and not with false pretenses or expectations. God Bless
