As Christians who properly distinguish between innocent fetal humans and convicted murderers, it is possible for us to be both “pro-life” and “pro-death penalty”.

Yes. What is the real source of Christian morality. It’s God. The death penaulty is not contrary to God’s word, it is the government not bearing the sword in vain concerning murder, takeming another persons life unjustly, whereas abortion is taking another lerson’s life unjustly. Notice here the issue is justice according to morality. The state acts on what it can enforce as the law and state become irrelevant. What it can’t wnforce become s a mockery. Prohibition became that.

Yes pro life wants to give an innocent child a chance whereas the death penalty is just punishment (in human sense) for a person who already committed heinous crimes
My issue with the death penalty is not conceptual but our own government’s ineptitude and corruption. Too many innocent people on death row or already put to death for me to support it in good conscience (and ONE is too many).

I dont think pro life is the responsibility of the government.
If you are pro life, that is great. But realize and accept that it’s your decision based on your beliefs and nobody else’s responsibility.
Romans 13 the authorities on this earth come from God and those who resist (criminals) bring judgement on themselves. One reaps what he sows.

Pro-life individuals (like myself) believe in protecting innocent human life from those who seek to destroy it. A criminal on death row who killed an innocent person will face the consequences of their actions, which in this case is death. But an unborn baby or child is innocent; they have nothing to atone for. But we also care for the sick, the poor and the disenfranchised, because our Lord tells us to. They are not on trial.
God stated thou shalt not kill. This is law. To violate the law, one would face consequences of their action/s. God teaches that to destroy the evil and violent person actually PRESERVES life. When a violent offender has been executed: a) justice has been served; b) threat to life has been removed. Violence continues to increase because those who are violent are given the opportunity to do more harm. Today, our human sympathies outweigh God’s laws.
One of the most straightforward places in Scripture that addresses this is Genesis 9.
It’s a command by God that those who murder shall forfeit their life because God made man in His image and that makes human life extremely valuable.
Gen. 9:5 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man.
Gen. 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed,
for God made man in his own image.

I refuse to acknowledge the ridiculous claim of pro choice, because I know nobody who is pro baby murder who is actually pro choice. You can’t be pro choice if you think people made the wrong choice. They claim a woman who was raped, SHOULD have had an abortion. A single mother SHOULD have had an abortion. A teenager SHOULD have had an abortion. This is not pro choice.
When they call me Anti choice, I point out that they are too. When they say I can’t be pro life because I’m pro capital punishment, I say fine. I’m anti Baby murder.

I think we should be pro-life in all respects. The death penalty does not do anything productive. It is merely retributive Justice. It doesn’t pay back any debt owed or damage done. The only thing t can do is to prevent the criminal from committing more crimes, but that can be done through prison sentencing.
At the end of the day, hey’re still a human being made in God’s image. Turn the other cheek. Let God judge them.
Human government is to administer justice as God’s servants. Retributive justice is punishment for sin. If we say there is no place for retribution (just punishment) then how do we administer justice? It’s a gospel issue too – what about a God punishing Jesus for our sins? That was Him paying our debt/ taking our punishment. He couldn’t save us unless there is a just basis for forgiveness.

I am prolife but there’s a difference betwen innocent unborn children and a savage murderer who deserves punishment. Some crimes are so evil and a death sentence is warranted
Certainly God advocated capital punishment under the old covenant law the law of Moses as it is called. In the Old Testament God had his people wipe out certain races for the very reason that they killed their own children by sacrificing them to Idols in the hope of a better life, not much has changed really. But what about in the new testament God did kill a couple a man and his wife at the beginning of the church but seems to have stopped it right there. O course the commandment in the OT was never been thou shalt not kill it was always thou shalt do no murder, i.e killing on a personal level between individuals, but under Gods own law killing was prescribed for certain infringements of his law, like adultery, homosexuality, bestiality, and murder to name a few. We are warned by the Apostle Paul that the leaders that God puts in charge of a country or city etc do not bare the sword in vain. We are to obey them in all things, until of course they become are matters of our faiths laws against Gods laws. Theses leaders are not usually a threat to the righteous why would they be? But leaders that are evil and do evil things are nearly always a threat to Gods people but we have to bare that in faith and patience, we are called to suffer for the truth if called upon to do so. In the new testament they speak about a sin that leads to death not completely sure what that sin is or in what way they are speaking about it. But if say your government make a law that bringing drugs into their country carries the sentence of death, what can you expect if you do so? We are instructed to obey our governments when there laws are righteous such as this law for although drugs bring a temporary pleasure to their users they also bring a wealth of misery and addiction and crime with them. So, would say that if there is a law that carries the death penalty and you willingly break it, you did it knowing what it would mean if you got caught, but of course the circumstances for each alleged crime need to be examined case by case. You could have been under threat of death to carry out such a crime or maybe your family were under treat of death it does happen many times and this would be where every case needs to be examined before any sentence of death is carried out.
how is it that the death of a baby in the womb can be considered murder when a criminal shoots a pregnant woman and both her and baby die but when that same mother decides to have an abortion it is not considered murder? or in the case of a car accident a pregnant mother and unborn child die it is counted as 2 deaths?
No one, not even a baby, is good, compared to the standard of God. The Bible states, “…all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
However, a baby has not committed the heinous act of cold-blooded and/or premeditated murder with utter impudence for life.
A fetal human has done absolutely nothing to deserve death. Especially when the vast majority of abortions are ones of convenience.
The fallen nature of all human beings is species-wide and something that Jesus of Nazareth died and rose from the grave for. Jesus died for murder too, but His salvation from it, if you truly repent and trust in Him, may not save you from the consequences of your physical crime.

God was certainly for capital punishment in the old testament. Since hell is STILL a real thing, it stands to reason that harsh punishment for sin is aslo still a real thing with our Creator.
The fact is that in places where capital punishment is regularly used, severe crime is more rare. Where law is more lenient, crime is more prevalent.
The lesson here is if we used capital punishment more regularly, we would see less crime. That being said, its use should be restricted to those most deserving and least likely to rehabilitate. All things in moderation, right?

We must look into the lens of scripture to answer this question. It’s not so obvious among the body of Christ to be pro-life which is sad, because if we do truly follow Christ, then we indeed must be pro-life. As for the death penalty. Justice is not justice if grace is not warranted. And grace is not grace if justice is not warranted. Justice and grace must come hand in hand for Gods justice and vrace to be carried out.
I believe that any person who supports the death penalty is not pro-life but is merely anti-abortion. In the case of our country, there have been many innocent persons who have been executed by the state which is the result of an unjust and corrupt system. So anyone who is pro-death penalty, racist, xenophobic and support policies that disenfranchise the poor cannot be pro-life…they are just anti-abortion.

Abortion is sacrificing innocent human life to the god of convenience! God repeatedly condemned the practice of child sacrifice, which was practiced by many cultures! It was one of the practices of the Canaanites, which is a major reason God commanded they all be killed, as judgment.
Although there certainly have been instances of innocent people being executed, that is an exceedingly rare occurrence! The vast majority of people executed for crimes got much better than they deserved! The suffering they endure at the hands of the executioner is always much less than the suffering through which their victims had to endure!

depends what you mean by pro-life. I am pro life as in against abortion. I don t believe we should keep a person alive on a machine if they would die without it. I believe in death penalty for definitely guilty murderes for example.
