Your Name Matters

Surname: a hereditary name common to all members of a family, as distinct from a given name.

If you believe God created you, and did so for a purpose, then your surname is God’s assignment to you.

We hear a lot about people being a brand. They are intentional about enhancing their name recognition for profit and influence.

But your name is not your name. You are a part of a long line of others who bore that name. That is why the Bible places so much emphasis on chronologies and generations. You must not live simply for yourselves, you are a part of a history and a link to the next generation.

It is your responsibility to invest in that name so that it will be more honored and trusted and influential when it is time to pass it on to the next generation.

The ONE THING for today: The scout motto of “leave the campsite better than you found it” is a good policy when it comes to the name God assigned to you.
