However outwardly respectable the priests’ political and theological arguments may have appeared, it was envy which led them to ‘hand over’ Jesus to Pilate to be destroyed (Mark 15:1, 10).

There is a vast difference between unforgiveable and unforgiven.

Even on the Cross Jesus prayed to His Father that those who crucified Him would be forgiven, and that included the very Jewish religious leaders who instigated the plot to have him executed.

So today, there are enemies of Jesus who actively resist and reject His claims and presence in their lives.

Denying that Jesus died on the Cross for their sins.

Denying the need to be forgiven.

Ridiculing the whole idea of Christianity.

Tragically remaining unforgiven till their dying breath and then it is too late.

The ONE THING for today: The good news of Christianity is that through Jesus Christ there is nothing we do that is unforgivable except refusing to be forgiven – proudly, determinedly rejecting the loving tug of the Holy Spirit cry, “Come! Come to the Cross”.
