I never pastored a Church (one being an exception) that could not support me financially with a pastor’s salary. All I needed as a pastor was the amount determined by the COG minutes, that was all.
Are there any churches too small to support a pastor?

I don’t believe in bi-vocational ministries. Bi-vocational ministries accommodate greedy preachers and stingy church members.
Paul resorted to tent-making as a side job and not for greedy purposes.
I had a number of churches that were either new church plants or reopening of churches that had died or been closed down. I never had a good salary and always had to work other jobs. One church that offered the best money was also the most controlling and the most resistant to growth. I was so glad to get away from being a professional Christian.

The church I was pastoring in Florida could not afford a pastors salary. Even the lowest salary. They fought me tooth and nail on growing.
Have run into ( 3 ) churches that had one or more who just didn’t want growth. They feared they would lose their power and yet the only power they had was the ability to prevent an increase.
it was a matter of not being able to support but of withholding that support.
I had a church with many faithful tithe payers. All of them on SSI. However 10 years ago they built a building they couldn’t afford.
Are you serious? Maybe not now but my daddy never ever pastored a church that paid him a salary! Don’t mean no harm against salaried for pastors (that is if they really are good shepherds over.their flock)! However pastors need to be just that! Not showing up for regular services & out of town visiting the rest of the time! I’m sure you did not fit in this category!

He pastored in AR & Memphis! He mainly started new churches where the congregation was of People less fortunate than some! Project people if you will that might not have been reached had my daddy not had the burning desire to reach the unreachable!

In North Memphis! Is there still a CoG in Collierville? We used to attend that church for district meetings & such! There was a pastor named Bro Mackey there all those many years ago!

Well bro Mackey must have lived a long time,! My daddy was 92 when he passed! Of course Bro Mackey was a bit younger than him back then! Did you know a pastor named Bro Blalock? He pastored the Summerville church many years ago! Daddy helped him get into the ministry!

Well I between churches we attended the old church something Blvd! Anyway this church started the Oak Forrest Church! Daddy knew some of those Sharps from AR! One of them used to sing it was bro sharp, his wife & their son! Is.this your brother in law! The name of that pastor in Summerville was Blalock!

Yes. I was a deacon in charge of finances in a large church that could NOT support the pastor. And the church itself was owned by the COG. So our pastor worked and pastored the church. Needless to say didn’t do either one well.
And when I tried to get the dead members and those that hadn’t been to church in not only a year, but years the COG state overseer said to leave them on the books and continue to show the same membership for better help from Cleveland Headquarters.
Point being not all bi church’s pastors are greedy or gave stingy members.
Sometimes it the head cutting off the tail. The more members , the higher the salaries.
