Is it possible to be a bible believing Christian and a total racist in your political policies??? I know this is a hot button, so don’t get angry and spew bitterness

  1. Just because you’re right or left doesn’t make you a racist. To answer the question, no. Love your neighbor. All darkness will come to light. But first you have to define and answer what makes a racist. Some may be passionate about their views. I choose to follow the Jesus party and what he has spoken.

  2. If you are a Christian and filled with the Holy Spirit hate towards anyone should be the last thing in your heart and mind. You cannot serve two masters.

  3. Absolutely not. Our identity is in Christ not a political party. Hating your neighbor is breaking the greatest commandment

  4. But , not liking how someone behaves , even if they have a different skin color does not make someone a racist either

  5. Depends. For centuries the church was, but much of that was ignorance and a misunderstanding of what a human was by the majority culture. Therefore I say it is possible, but God wil change you with time if you let Him. Of course we will all die with sins that God did not change

  6. to the OP, there are alot of lables thrown around in that post… perhaps an example or two would be more productive

  7. Not talking about policies but individual hate which of course influence policies you support. “Whoever does not love does not know God for God is love.” I John 4:8. As a Christian, you cannot hate other people in any way and say you know and love God.

  8. So what I get out of your question is if everyone does not believe politically what you believe they are evil and racist.
Terrible question and if you were being honest you wouldn’t even ask such a question. Just because someone does not agree with you politically doe not mean they hate you. It means the do not agree with your politics.

  9. Racism and Politics are 2 different things. The fact that racists vote doesn’t necesarrily mean that the platform they chose is racist. If that is the case then in the US both parties could be labled as racist! Christinanity is more concerned with individuals than insitutions, who we are then what party we belong to! Remeber what the Angel of the Lord said to Joshua?

  10. To truthfully answer the question you have to define in what you mean by “racist”. This term has evolved to several different definitions in the last several decades. In the original definition I believe that you can’t be a Christian and be racist though! The statement that confounds me is,” You have to love someone, but you don’t have to like them!” Is not like a lesser emotion of love? To love someone do you not have to like them first? Lord help me! This is a hard one to explain!

  11. No. Why? Only one race in the Bible..the human race. Science has proven all people share common ancestry. Races do not exist.

  12. According to some people if you are a Republican or a Trump supporter you are a racist and I suppose unchristian

  13. For starter, what do you mean total racist? Do you mean politically correct? Once you have made/give your definition of ” total racist/racism ” then I believe there will be reasonable discussion.

  14. God is love. We are to be like God and love our neighbors of every color. Racism is not love.

  15. Jesus wasn’t racist and He is our example. He went out of the way to Samaria to see the woman at the well. She was low class and the Samarians were not liked by Jews but He made to sure have that divine appointment with her.

  16. Unfortunately, the term “racist” has come to mean being opposed to anything liberal. You can have countless minority friends, marry an immigrant and appoint intelligent people of all races to prominent positions, and still be called racist. Yet if your a liberal, you can be caught multiple times on a hot Mike using racial slurs and even be a member Of the KKK and no one bats an eye.

As far as being saved however, unfortunately being saved doesn’t Completely eliminate our sin nature until we are on the other side of eternity. If we’re honest with ourselves, there are a whole lot of anti Sematic people in American churches. If every single one of these people are not truly saved, then heaven is not going to have many familiar faces. It is my hope that as a person grows spiritually, they will leave these false ideas behind.

  17. Revelation 18:4: “Then I heard another voice from heaven say: ”Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;”

This is a reference saying don’t fall for the trapping of this world because you will consumed by it. It is this trap that lead you to think thoughts that oppose to another group or ideology. This video should help you understand Satan’s system of dualism. It aim for you to trap in one side or the other and never break free from it.

  18. Racism can be like bad breath, everyone else knows you have it but you don’t see the problem

  19. Neither the Christian Right or the Christian Left have nothing to do with the Christian message. They just try to insert Christ into their politics.

  20. 1st and 2nd commandment fulfills the law, because love does no harm to its neighbor.

He that loves not, knows not God, for God is love.

  21. Noone who is a real Christian can be a racist. But ignorance and fear are very much possible. This is why one of the gifts of the Spirit is Teach and Preach. The children of God still need to be educated. We must all get rid of our prejudice and open up to eachother with love. However we must also not be naive that the enemy wants to divide us to conquer. Black and brown people can’t blame today’s generations of whites for what their ancestors did. Whites must be taught history. I blame this on education. As a former teacher, parents and a very liberal education system is to blame for brainwashing our children to hate and demand some kind of retribution. Also for teaching a one sided history of slavery. Slavery still happens today arround the world in different forms. Gangs are also a form of slavery. They persuade and then force their members to commit crimes even to their own people and family.

Let us all live in the Freedom Jesus gave us freedom not to indulge in the desires of the flesh but in honoring God in us, loving one another with Agape love edifying one another. We must also rebuke those who push hateful agendas of all kinds. We must stop blaming a persons but sin itself holding eachother accountable. We must also learn to forgive. We must know that people make choices, some good and some bad. Being racist is a choice. People act that way because they have been taught to do that but they are also doing it because of their own volition. Weust stevie to value a person by the contents of their character and not by the color of their Skin. I think Martin Luther King is the one who said this. As Hispanic I am grateful to MLK and all the heroes of the civil rights movement both black and white because they opened doors to people of all ethnicities. But I kid you not. Even within my own Hispanics there is much misinformation and sin. We must rid ourselves of the blemishes in our culture that divide us. But we must also detect expose and reject the false narratives pushed to keep dividing us.

Scriptire says that the only perfect link is LOVE. AGAPE.

Only love can set us free of our prejudices.

  22. “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?” (1 John 4:20).

  23. Defining terms is important, but going with legitimate racism, I’m gonna say “big no”

  24. I know a lotta white folk that are Bible thumpers but they are absolute trash , racists of the highest order. Wether it’s possible I don’t know but i can assure you they are alive and well.

  25. I say no. I return with another question.

Can a born again believer vote for a candidate that supports abortion and gay rights with a good conscience?

  26. No. The greatest commandment includes loving your neighbor. You can’t be racist at any level and practice this.

  27. A Christian can fall into the trap of any sin. Racism included so yes of course you could be a Christian by identity but a practising racist. But if you take your faith seriously then racism is incompatible with Christianity. In fact I can’t remember a person’s skin colour ever being mentioned in the Bible but I stand to be corrected ?

  28. I have given up listening to politics! I am not well versed but know who I want for President. Had to stop getting mad.

  29. It’s not possible for a believer in Christ to remain in an UnChristlike mindset. There will either be good fruit on the tree or bad fruit.

Having said that, what do you mean exactly by “racist in your political policies”? Just for better clarification.

  30. Can’t believe so many say no. People can be in error and still be Christian. Being racist is an unchristian attitude, but many of us have an attitude in error in some form or another. I have a hard time seeing how a Christian can support abortion, but I’m still not willing to outright insist they can’t be a Christian.

  31. This does open a big debate

Many evangelical Christians here in the UK find it bizarre that so many evangelical Christians in the US support Trump. He appears to represent everything we stand against

  32. If they know that it is wrong and they continue to do it I would say no. However it is debatable whether “mens rea” comes into play here or not. Hypothetical here – say that in the future through technology we found out that plants have some sort of higher conscience of being and value. Could we hold the people before this was discovered accountable for killing and eating them as being wrong?(Obviously not true just an example)

Also, race is not mentioned in the Bible. The only place you can make the argument for race is that we are all descendants of adam which would make us all the same race.

  33. We are not Christian because we are perfect. All have fallen and come short of the glory of God. There is none righteous, no not one. We are sinners even after we are saved by the blood of Jesus. It’s just that we now are covered by the blood of Jesus.
Racism is sin like all others. Even when saved man still sins. But we should spend time with God in prayer and in His Spoken Word. When we do, we are able to fight those temptations with the strength of God, if we go to Him with them.
So yes, just as an alcoholic is always an alcoholic, we are always sinners. We just need to let God heal and change our hearts to be closer to what He sees after we are saved, Jesus and His precious blood that now covers us.

  34. My niece stopped talking to me almost 4 years ago because I voted for Trump. She called me a rasist…lol.

I voted for Trump because he wasn’t for abortion…that’s why I voted for him.

I find it disturbing that so many Christians are accusing other Christians of being racist for voting for Trump while they have no problem voting foe politicians who favor abortion.

  35. “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let’s not label the sin. Because everyone of us is fallen into sin. Everyone!

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

All of us sin, and all of us deserve the same payment for our sin… death.

We all in Christ alone have an intercessor who received our wage of death, and reconciled us to God.

So if you ask the question are Christians fallen in sin, the answer is yes. Everyone of us.

But if we truly seek after God’s own heart we will try to sanctify ourselves. After all in Christ we are a new creation. And if we love Christ we will keep his command. So whatever the sin. Repent and ask for forgiveness, because if you ask He is faithful and just and will forgive you.

And ask, is being racist loving your neighbor as you love yourself?

  36. If you practice American Christianity then you can be Christian and a racist… I think most white Evangelical and Trump supporters who claim to be Christians can be and many are racist…

  37. A new believer comes to Jesus as is, dead in sin, made alive in Christ, reborn by the Holy Spirit. The next important steps is for the new believer to allow the Holy Spirit to transform from racism, a long list of various wrong ways, hate, horrible issues, towards Christ’s ways through the Holy Spirit. If a prisoner in prison gets saved, the sanctification process is going to be longer and more difficult than a 13 year old at Christian Summer camp. Discipleship, prayer, change of friendships from bad to great Christian friendships quicken the pace. The individual believer has to count the cost for swimming against the current of evil, racism, etc. The cost can range from nothing to ostracizing, to prison to death as in the Muslim culture.

  38. If it’s just a religion to to you void of new life it sure is. Is it possible to have a new life and be a politician?! It will be a short career lol.

  39. Well racial stereotypes do not grow in a vacuum they are actually taken from reality and then they are over broadly applied. And the only people that I personally know that claim to be bible-believing Christians and to be racist are a couple black guys. I don’t know any white people that do that. I’ve had black people come to nearly all white church and no one gives it a second thought I’ve been the white guy in all black church and felt the eyes boring holes through the back of my head and my back and giving me disgusting looks so my experience personally and you can take from it whatever it’s worth to you is that most Prejudice inside the church comes from black people towards white people.

  40. Depends on your definition. Too many people today can’t differentiate between people who distrust the federal government and cross burning card carrying members of the KKK.

  41. I believe it is impossible to be a Christian and an racist, however I believe they are miss interpreted often. I want to add that it is also impossible to be a Christian and condone murder. It doesn’t matter if you have a right to commit murder (abortion) or engage in needless wars.
I am not suggesting you’re a murder if you vote for someone who supports these ideas but if you support them.

  42. I’m wondering which political party is being labeled racist in the OP???? Surely it’s not the party of Lincoln, the party that fought for the reconstruction amendments, the party of that fought segregation and Jim Crow, the party that support Kennedy and Johnson during the civil rights movement and legislation… right???

  43. Sadly it is. Just because you’re a Christian it doesnt mean that God has yet refined you in that certain area.

  44. How could you be racist in your political policies? Do you mean like Jim Crow laws? or an attempt to legalize segregation?

  45. In the US yes it’s possible. The KKK considers themselves a Christian organization. As does Westboro, amongst many others. And people seem to accept them so with all of the proof I can gather based on the actions of people who claim to be Christians I would say yes.

  46. It’s not possible to be true Christian and a racist, but political affiliation does not make one racist, unless the political organization you’re affiliated with is overtly racist.

  47. No it is NOT possible. Anyone person confessing as a Christian yet still believing that one or other “race(s)” is more valuable than another is NOT a Christian.

  48. You and consider yourself to be a Christian all day long… many slave owners considered themselves Christian, the KKK would conduct night raids on Saturday and be at church on sunday, many racist people of today consider themselves Christian… However the question is according to the scripture does God consider them to be Christians….

So politically our actions should align to scripture… we should exhibit mercy love justice, care for the oppressed, and speak for those who can’t…

  49. Maurice, the short answer is “no”.

But many people are redefining “racist” to mean: not a socialist/communist, or not favoring one group over another.

Racism is a matter of the heart. Your question may as well ask can a bible believing Christian be a sinner? God is perfecting all of us. And

Whether someone is cruel because they don’t like a certain skin color or they don’t like Left handed people, the problem is their sinful nature, not how that nature is manifesting at that particular moment. You should pray for your enemies and love them like Jesus commanded. Treat them with kindness and not judge them. Hope for the best for them, and give them the benefit of the doubt. It may be that they are not a racist, but something else all together. Only God sees in the heart.

  50. Is it possible to be a bible believing Christian and still be a sinner?… There’s your answer.

  51. If you are talking about in the beginning, as in one wrestling with this particular sin, then I would say yes, as if their conversion is true, over time, the conviction of the Holy Spirit will grow stronger and they will no longer desire this sin in their life. However, for those who claim salvation, yet have no qualms about spewing blatantly racist remarks, then that person is as the members of the KKK: FALSE BELIEVERS.

“11AM Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in Christian America ” Rev. DR. Martin Luther King jr.

    And still is today..

Our political ideology is just a reflection of our spiritual values or lack thereof

  53. Yes. The Church was racist during apartheid in South Africa yet it was Christian. The same obtained in Nazi Germany. What they were advocating wasn’t just but they were Christan and Bible reading all same. Bring Christian doesn’t render you infallible.

  54. A Christian Is commanded to love his brothers and sisters. So you must love them no matter their color. We in fact should love and pray for those that are your enemy as well.

  55. This is a Christian Apologetics group, not a town hall meeting where each one can spew accusations against each other.

If Jesus is our head and Lord, should any of you be fighting?

  56. It is written a new commandment i give you. Love one another as i have loved you. -Jesus Do you?

  57. “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” ~John John 13:35

Therefore, if you don’t love your Christian brother because of the color of his skin, it is arguable that you are not a follower of Jesus Christ.

  58. Anyone who claims to be a Christian yet hates his or her brother (meaning everyone) better reevaluate their relationship with Christ. Can a Christian be a racist? Not according to Scripture.

  59. It is possible but I think the accusation of racism gets thrown around far too easily these days.

  60. How can a Christian actively be a Democrat knowing that the Democratic Platform is pro abortion? As a Christian you need to vote with a biblical conscience.

  61. God is technically racist… He chose one people… above all others (Jews) ?‍♂️?

  62. Define racism.

It wasn’t even recognized as a term for nearly all of man’s existence. Societies were broken down by class. Usually money determined what class you were in. We call the top class the elites today.

Political Correctness has made it very complicated.

If everyone would just practice, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” then we would be much better off.

  63. The term racism implies that there is another race of beings beyond the human race such as Klingons and Lizard people! Here on earth there is only one race created under God. Racism or the idea of racism is a byproduct of evolution and Darwinism which is a teaching contrary to the Bible. Jesus said the 2 greatest commandments is to love God with our all, and to love our neighbor. There is no room for racism if you obey Christ.

  64. I don’t see any good arguments here based on scripture. The best example from Jesus was his interaction with the samaritan woman. There was a major ethnic divide here but Jesus showed her love and compassion. Then he and the apostles stayed with the samaritans for 2 days preaching. That shows me that we are supposed to love our fellow man no matter what their ethnicity is.

  65. It is something the Holy Spirit would work out in you. No one comes to the cross without sin; prejudge is no worse than lust or pride.

  66. A self proclaimed Christian can be a racist. A healthy, fruitful, truly Christ like Christian who is a racist? No. Sadly anyone can claim to be a Christian.

  67. To be racist means that you hate someone because of their skin color. To have hatred in your heart makes you a murderer at heart. Scripture says to judge not by the appearance, but with righteous judgement. Christ says to love your neighbor as you love yourself, so no. One cannot be a Christian and a racist.

  68. Is it possible to be a Christian but still struggle with sin? Yes, of course, even Paul struggled with sin. We all do. And Racism is a terrible sin.

  69. Well, I think there are a fair amount of people who are politically misled or deceived. Many/most of them mean well but they don’t realize that the policies they are voting for are doin for more harm than good. For example, when the Democratic Party pushed for slavery to be maintained, perhaps they were arguing for their rights and freedoms to own slaves while forgetting that they were robbing slaves of their freedom. Then the Republican Party arose as an anti-slavery Party. Then there was the time that the Left pushed for a policy that pays unwed mothers for their children so long as there is no man in the house, then it unintentionally incentives fatherlessness. I doubt that many on the left thought about this at its creation or realized afterwards, but it’s a point worth knowing…

  70. If you are a racist in any way and consider yourself a christian, you have a lot of sanctifying to do.

    Gal 3:

26So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

  71. The two greatest commandments…love God, love people. You cannot control others but you can control how you act and react. Take the higher ground.

  72. Galatians 3:28 – There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. – Honestly, I don’t think so. While I can’t find the verse, I think somewhere it was written that all races are equal. This is the only one I know from my mind so I posted this one.

  73. You can be a Christian and have all sorts of sin and immaturity in your life. None of us had to acquire perfection before salvation.

  75. Racism is hate….A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. ( John 13v 34 )

  76. We would need to know how you define racism before answering that. In todays emotionally charged and politically divided world (for example) many people who support President Trump are called racist just by virtue of the support. Please elaborate on YOUR definition of “racism”.

  77. If we do not love our brothers and sisters, how can we say we love God? Simple answer, a child of God should not be a racist. Nor should they be oppressive towards women. Nor should they discriminate against those with a disability. It shames me that so many who claim to love Jesus can be filled with hatred and prejudice. This then puts the church to shame. I so hate this stupid idea that some spout that the races should be kept divided and there should be no marriage between people of different colours. How dare they pretend that this is Christian doctrine. How dare they use this to disguise their hate.

  78. We are all sinners. Sinners need Jesus. He doesn’t call the righteous but sinners to salvation.
