IT’S THE LAW!
There are only THREE classes of people who have the right to marry in God’s eyes.
1. Those never before married,
2. Those scripturally divorced from a mate who committed adultery, and
3. Those whose mate has died within a scriptural marriage (not after an unscriptural divorce and one party dies).

Good thing we are not under the law.
Or those who were legally and biblically divorced from a vow-breaking spouse. The Old Testament gives specifics.
Only a man can divorce a woman for adultery. A woman cannot divorce a man for adultery.
Thank God we have freedom and forgiveness in Christ.
What about if an unbelieving spouse abandons the marriage?

If you believe in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ it is not open for dispute! Quit trying to enslave people under OT law. It is ungodly!
The only unforgivable sin is apostasy which is blasphemy or rejecting Christ
Grace is a reason not to sin, not a reason to continue sinning that grace may abound. God forbid.

The law in Deuteronomy states that when a husband finds some uncleanness in his wife, he can divorce her. Uncleanness is a polite way of saying foul, disgust.. it is the same word used to describe feces in another passage describing how to cover their ‘uncleanness’ with a shovel outside the camp. When we have this kind of low perspective of our spouse, it is ok to seek a divorce. If the realtionship is unhealthy and we are dealing with unrepentant hearts the evidence is going to present itself in our sex life. An unhealthy sex life is evidence of an unhealthy relationship.
In Malachi the word divorce is used in most translations, but the greek is ‘putting away’, which is not the same. Putting away is only seperated, not divorced. God hates the “putting away” of woman, because it leads to violence. Men would put their wifes out of the house and if she were to find a new home with another man (which happed often as woman did not usually support themselves), she would be an adulterer and the punishment for that was death, not divorce. Divorce was the solution to protect woman from becoming adulterers.
Jesus also did not forbid it as he did not come to abolish the law. The context of the verses in the gospels are in regard to the pharisees asking him if it’s ok to divorce for ‘any reason’, which was a debate at the time. Remember that John the Baptist was beheaded for speaking out against the reasons King Herod divorced so that he could marry another woman, the wife of his brother.. Jesus response is that it is not ok to divorce for any reason ‘except fornication’ or ‘except immorality’ and these are terms that when you look at the Greek, mean more than adultery and in several passages is listed beside adultery, and homosexuality and Idolatry. Infidelity is an issue about loyalty and love. Without loyalty and love you will always have sexual problems within the realtionship including lack of sex or neglect.
Adultery is the ONLY reason Jesus gave for remarriage
Number two is wrong … Divorse was only alloed within the betrothal period … When they were considered married because a covenant was made but no sexual union had yet taken place .. I believe the betrothal period was usually about 3 to 6 months
